Using Tummy Tub: Before, During and After
For bathing, the tummy tub has to be situated in front of the parent. The parent can give the bath standing or on their knees. For a more comfortable position, the parent can sit down and have the tub in between their knees. However, this may need the stand that can go with the tub so it would be in level with the one who is giving a bath. The baby has to face away from the parent for a more strategic bathing position.

To keep babies from feeling cold, the water level should cover their shoulders. It is advisable to keep the water temperature between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius for a soothing bath for babies. The small surface water area of the tummy tub is designed in such a way it can keep water warm for a long time.
It pays to be hygienic so it is advised that the tummy tub is cleaned before and after using it. Washing it before use is good because there is no guarantee that insects did not crawl over it especially when it was stored for a long time. Insects, no matter how small can carry bacteria, pollen and other substances that may be harmful for the infant. If it was damp when it was stored, there is also a possibility of developing mold and fungi that may lead to allergic reactions and bacterial contamination. After use, it is important to wash it with a mild detergent and dry it before being stored in a dry place.
